Short Biography

Ony Arifianto received his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Virginia Tech, United States. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia. He was formerly a Senior Engineer of Aircraft Stability and Control, at Indonesian Aerospace (PT Dirgantara Indonesia).

The main research interest of Dr. Arifianto is in the application of advanced techniques in the control of maneuvers of unmanned aerial vehicles. Related to his main interest, he also performs research in advanced modeling techniques, control approaches, and flight test techniques for unmanned aerial vehicles. In the guidance and control approaches, he is specifically interested in the library-based, optimal path planning and control algorithms.

Dr. Arifianto has more than twelve years of engineering experience. He was involved with the flight testing of the CN235 and N250 aircrafts. He was also involved in several wind tunnel test programs for aircraft developments. He was the lead integration engineer for the Wulung Unmanned Aircraft that obtained Type Certification for Indonesian military uses.

Dr. Arifianto is a big fan of John Grisham and J.R.R. Tolkiens. He reads their works repeatedly and never gets bored. Other than books, Dr. Arifianto loves to spend time outdoors. He often hikes the mountains in the West and Central Java areas.
