Rianto Adhy Sasongko

Short Biography

Rianto Adhy Sasongko Ph.D. is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Indonesia. He is a member of the Flight Physics Research group, where he conducts research in the area of guidance and control algorithms, simulation of dynamical systems, and aeroelasticity. Some of his recent works are related to the development of UAV obstacle avoidance algorithm, assessment of air combat effectiveness and its implementation to guidance system, flight control algorithm development, and aeroelasticity analysis of flexible air vehicle structure and bridge structure. He has also been involved in collaborative works with some industry and institutions, such as P.T.Dirgantara Indonesia (Indonesia Aircraft Manufacture), P.T.LEN, P.T.Pindad, P.T.IPMOMI, LAPAN (National Institute of Aeronautics and Space of Indonesia), Indonesia government research and development bodies, etc., mainly in research, development, education, and engineering projects.

Dr.Rianto earned his Ph.D degree from Imperial College London in 2008, where he had research in control engineering field. Prior to that, he got his Bachelor degree from Aerospace Engineering ITB in 1997, and his master degree from Department of Automatic Control and System Engineering, The University of Sheffield, U.K. in 2000.

In his spare times, Dr.Rianto likes to indulge his “not so academical” interest, such as watching and following football matches, watching movies, and listening to music. He enjoys wide range of music type, starting from old classic and progressive rock to more modern progressive music. Some of his favorites are Genesis, Yes, Rush, Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater, …and the list goes on.
