Our Research

The Flight Physics Research Group focuses on the study of the shape and the motion of flight. Our ultimate goal is to delve deeper into the nature and physics of flight. To that end, we develop and utilize state-of-the-art computational and experimental techniques to uncover the secret of the flight. Besides, we also continuously engineer flying vehicles to achieve better and better performance. There are three main research areas conducted in our group, namely (1) aerodynamics, (2) flight mechanics, and (3) astronautics.

Aerodynamics

Aerodynamics focuses on how gas interact around things, primarily concerned with the forces of drag and lift. In our research group, research on aerodynamics can be divided into three main topics,

  • Experimental Aerodynamics,
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics, and
  • Aerodynamic Optimization Techniques.

Flight Mechanics

In Flight Mechanics, we concern about air and space vehicle performance, stability, and control, ranging from conventional aircraft, multi-rotor, to rocket and satellite. Here, the research topics can be divided into these main topics,

  • Air Vehicle Simulation,
  • Flight Control, and
  • Flight Performance and Testing
  • Astrodynamics and Satellite Control
